Anisha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m proud to say my story began with me moving to the United States from East Africa. It was just my one-year-old daughter and I. At that time, I had my L’Oréal certification from back home and France. Amongst a lot of uncertainty that came along with moving to a new country, One thing I was confident about was my passion for cosmetology.

In the long run, I envisioned a hair salon of my own, hopefully making a difference in the lives of others. I have always believed beauty comes from within, and I wanted to be a part of the process of showcasing the beauty people possess in their physicality. If you look good, you feel good.

Although this was always my dream, it felt so far away. I started working under people to having a little shop of my own in the back of a little retail store. Some jobs were good to me, others didn’t even come around to paying me for my hard work. Regardless, I made it to the place I am now, owning my own salon, my own business, my dream come true. My salon is built in faith, in the moral to treat people how you want to be treated, and in love. I wanted to build a home for my clients and for me, a place of comfort.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely was not a smooth road. With anything in life, especially with your dream, your faith will always be tested. The most important part of it all is to keep going in hopes that something amazing is waiting for you at the end of it. The journey, I believe is the best part of it all. It makes the outcome so much more gratifying.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Anisha’s Salon story. Tell us more about the business.
I am the owner of a unisex hair salon. We specialize in all things hair and skin! We do facials, waxing, color, permanent straightening, keratin treatments, microblading, etc. What sets us apart from a lot of other salons is we use top of the line organic products with no harsh chemicals.

Outside of quality services, affordable pricing, and a welcoming environment I am most proud of the connections I am able to build with my clients. I make it my priority to understand them and provide them with the utmost care possible. Every individual is different and providing uniform service to everyone doesn’t seem fair. Everyone has their own style, their own story, and their own desires! I really try to tap into that to channel it into my work. The best part of it all is I get to make lasting relationships with my clients, who I am beyond grateful for. None of what I do would be possible without them!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
In my opinion, luck is quite small compared to the power of faith. I believe luck has played little to no role in my life. What was meant to happen has happened and has led me to the place I am now. Faith is the one thing that has carried me through my journey regardless if my luck has been good or not. It has made the bad times, good; and the good times, better.
